Senior Projects Manager (Full Time), Major Capital Works, Te Whatu Ora at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Counties Manukau, Auckland

We have a Senior Project Manager position open up at Counties Manukau District. This role will deliver major Healthcare Facilities and Infrastructure projects ranging from $1m to $150m+ in our pipeline. This role will report to Project Director - Project Governance and Capital Works. It will have direct report project managers and project support staff to deliver your portfolio of capital projects that you are responsible for.

We are looking for people who are passionate about healthcare projects and keen to contribute to the South Auckland community’s healthcare facilities. Your extensive skills in project management will be in addition to your empathetic, team-focused approach to capital project delivery. We need people that will drive a collaborative team environment and approach to problem-solving in all projects.

The ideal candidate will have major capital planning and project delivery experience within healthcare or other large-scale live operational environments where continuity of service is critical. An ability to understand major project governance and capital workflow processes, with an appreciation for the uniqueness of how different organisations deliver capital projects from the principal’s perspective. A solid working knowledge of consultant & construction contract procurement, negotiation and administration of NZS391x  series contracts is a must.

The person we seek will have a demonstrated track record leading the delivery of multimillion-dollar projects within a multidisciplinary team of internal stakeholders and external consultants. You will be comfortable managing demands on scope changes and conflicting priorities through open dialogues and establishing working relationships that encourage productive discussions. This role is pivotal to delivering major facilities build that aligns with our strategic goal of achieving health equity for our community.

Besides well-honed PMP principals, you will bring your tactful approach to managing project sponsor and end user expectations. This role requires you to use your strong negotiation skills to value manage the best commercial outcomes for our organisation. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday and based at Middlemore Hospital.

You will be responsible for project budget, project risk management, procurement strategy and contracts engagement to deliver outcomes that will be measured against quality, budget and programme success criteria.
