Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine

Te Whatu Ora Waitematā, Auckland.

Te Whatu Ora Waitematā provides healthcare to the northern and western regions of Auckland, and is the largest district in New Zealand by population. Our primary site is North Shore Hospital, Takapuna, Auckland. We provide anaesthesia services for a broad range of surgical specialties including colorectal, upper GI, liver resections, breast, complex endocrine, bariatric, adult and paediatric ENT, urology, obstetrics & gynaecology, and orthopaedic procedures.

We are seeking suitable candidates for our Anaesthesia Fellow posts for 12 months from 30th January 2024. We offer the following fellowships:

• Regional Anaesthesia (6-12 months)
• Upper GI Anaesthesia (6-12 months)
• Pain Medicine (6-12 months)
• Obstetric Anaesthesia (6-12 months)
• Perioperative Medicine (6-12 months)
• Medical Education in Anaesthesia (12 months)
• General - with possible subspecialty interest areas (6-12 months)

Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand is essential.

The roles are suitable for both those who’ve recently completed training, and those in the final phase of doing so. All applicants must have a minimum of four years training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. Those who are ANZCA trainees must be eligible to commence PFY prior to or on the commencement of the contract.

Our General fellowship can accommodate a range of interest areas, including Sustainability in Anaesthesia.

A research project / audit or department project is expected to form part of each role.
