2 roles: 1 Permanent and 1 fixed term one year to cover for person on secondment

Te tūnga | The roles

The permanent role is a co-manager role for the Kohinga Raraunga me ngā Kōmitimiti Kāinga (Household Collections and Data Integration) team and can be based in any location, though the team is primarily based in Ōtautahi and Pōneke (Christchurch and Wellington). Reporting to the Pouwhakahaere  - Te Tautoko & Hoahoatanga mō ngā Ritenga Mahi (Senior Manager - Methods Support & Design). In this role, you will co-lead a team of up to 15 people who provide methodological support and statistical advice to the household survey team and the data integration team in the organisation and across the wider data system. This means you could be in conversations about such things as the Household Labour Force Survey, the General Social Survey and the Integrated Data Infrastructure in the same day.

The second role is a fixed term secondment cover for approximately one year and can be based in either Ōtautahi or Pōneke . You will report to the Pouwhakahaere  -  Te Tautoko & Rangahau mō ngā Ritenga Mahi (Senior Manager - Methods Support & Research), and will lead Ngā Kohinga Taiao, Ōhanga Hoki (Environment and Economic Collections), a team of up to 12 people located across the motu. This team provides methodological support and statistical advice to environmental and economic output teams throughout the organisation and the wider data system. As manager you'll have a key role in identifying common methodological needs throughout the organisation and working with the team's analysts to meet those needs. In any given month they provide support to up to 20 different teams, ranging from pre-publication advice through to multi-year development projects.

In these roles, you'll provide people leadership to your team, specifically focusing on supporting individual wellbeing and development and team culture. You will look to grow technical skills, subject matter knowledge, and peer-to-peer leadership within your team as they work with new or changing data.  This role is primarily about people leadership, so while an understanding of the work we do is useful, it's not critical - you'll build what you need as you go.
