Occupational Health and Safety Manager, (Full time) Human Resource, Te Whatu Ora at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Counties Manukau, Auckland

We are seeking an experienced individual to lead the Occupational Health and Safety team to fulfil their duties as H&S SMEs as prescribed in the HSWA and other regulations and standards including utilising a detailed short and long term plan of activities. This is a full time position working Monday to Friday and based at Middlemore Hospital.

Reporting to the Group Occupational Health and Safety Manager, you will be expected to proactively advise and guide the CM Health teams and leaders, on all HSWA requirements to ensure compliance to the relevant legislation, regulations and standards whist building a strong culture in health and safety management. Drive a risk aware culture by providing support and guidance to the organisation to ensure risk management is top of mind and that to provide great support to the wider Te Whatu Ora Health team also means we provide a great service to our patients and wider Counties Manukau community.

You will drive the consultation and engagement of health and safety with the required stakeholders including HSRs and contracting partners and assist the Risk and Assurance Manager to carry out risk training and guidance support to managers across the organisation on H&S and HR risks and risk processes. Lead and participate in the management of H&S incidents and investigations where potential and actual critical H&S risks have been identified.

To be suitable for this role you need to have;

  • Tertiary qualification relevant to H&S Risk
  • Health, Safety, Risk professional experience
  • 5 years’ post qualification experience
  • Experience developing a culture of innovation, performance, transparency and customer-centric service.
  • Experience in delivering sustainable system and process performance improvement
  • Experience in delivering change and performance with and through teams, by engaging them in the directions and delivery of plans, establishing clear work priorities, delegating effectively, ensuring capability to deliver, monitoring performance, and providing timely, regular feedback.
