Therapy Assistant - Physiotherapy

Contract: Permanent, 0.7 FTE (56 hours/fortnight)

 Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

The Therapy Assistant- Physiotherapy works mainly in the Inpatient setting to provide assistance to therapist or deliver a programme  of intervention under the direction/supervision of the therapist.  This may be through execution of an exercise programme or task, or provision of equipment.   There are some admin clerical/cleaning components of this role  eg online ordering of supplies and cleaning of physiotherapy specific equipment but the role largely involves face to face patient contact

Te Whatu Ora Taranaki employs approximately 350 allied health professionals across its services, and we’re growing our inpatient physical health rehabilitation team by 60%.  You will be joining a friendly team that is diverse in skills and experience, a team that welcomes collaboration, and that values the contribution of each team member.  Our team provides rehabilitation care across acute and non-acute inpatient wards as part of Allied Health, and we’re happy to support other teams to ensure their success.

Moū - About you

You will need to have:-

  • A current NZ drivers licence - preferable able to drive a manual vehicle
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others to provide integrated rehabilitation to clients with a diverse range of challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff.
  • A strong rehabilitation focus, passion for ongoing learning and development.
  • Experience working in health care and a health care assistant qualification preferable
