Location: Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth

Service: Physical Health Inpatient Wards

Contract: Permanent full-time, 1.0 FTE (80 Hours per fortnight)

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

You will work within a supportive team of social workers to provide comprehensive social work assessment and intervention for tangata whaiora inpatient in our medical, surgical and rehabilitation wards at Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth. You will liaise closely with individuals, families and the multidisciplinary team and develop strong links with community services as required to provide integrated care for individuals. You will have regular supervision and support with continuing professional development.

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

Te Whatu Ora Taranaki employs approximately 350 allied health professionals across its services. You will be joining the physical health social work team; a friendly team of 12 that is diverse in skills and experience, a team that welcomes collaboration, and that values the contribution of each team member.  The Physical Health inpatient social work team has 10 skilled practitioners working in a range of medical, surgical, and rehabilitation settings.

Moū - About you

A successful applicant will have been able to demonstrate their ability to be a clear communicator, a builder of connections within the wider community and have excellent time management skills. You will be independently managing a caseload of varying complexity and completing assessments with an interprofessional lens. You will be working closely with other health professions.

You will need to have:-

  • New Zealand registration with the Social Workers Registration Board and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others to provide integrated care to clients with a diverse range of challenges.
  • Ideally, you’ll have two or more years of experience working in a health or disability field of practice.
  • Working visa/NZ residence (as appropriate).
