Casual Occupational Therapist Opportunities - Burwood Hospital at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Waitaha Canterbury, Christchurch

  • Casual positions - variety of service areas, hours and day of week including weekends.
  • Registration and APC with the Occupational Therapy Board New Zealand is essential
  • Preferably 2-4 years - experience in clinical practice

Mō te tūnga - About the Role

Come and work in the purposeful built wards at Burwood Hospital. Gain work satisfaction by working with people with physical health or mental health needs who require comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation. The area of work is within the Older Person - s Health and Rehabilitation Division.   Be part of both the ward team and the wider Occupational Therapy team and take the opportunities to access professional development through various special interest groups, in-service training and clinical supervision.

Ko wai koe | About You

In this role, you will be responsible:

  • Working within interdisciplinary teams that work collaboratively and take a patient centred approach to assess patients and plan interventions that reflect the needs and goals of the individual;
  • Working with patients to enable optimum safety and function during this phase of their recovery;
  • Working with clients from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, and bringing your holistic skills, enthusiasm and passion to achieve the best outcome for your patients
  • Working with patients who have had a medical event and require a period of rehabilitation to return safely to the community/home.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills and Experience

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and their whanau
  • An ability to quickly and effectively work in different areas of the Burwood campus.
  • 2-4  years - experience in the practice of Occupational Therapy, preferably in  rehabilitation of orthopaedic conditions/general medical/surgical conditions/ neurological disorders and/or Mental Health experience.
