Data Quality Administrator at Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington

The emotional high of a wedding, the overwhelming sense of joy from the birth of a child, the grief from the loss of a loved one or becoming a citizen of Aotearoa - these are life changing events when people are focused on what really matters for them. So having to engage with government to register a birth or a death, apply for a wedding licence or begin the path to citizenship should be a straightforward, easy experience.

We are looking for two Data Quality Administrators to join our waka and support this important mahi. These are fixed term roles through to the 30 June 2024. Because of the work we do, you need to have New Zealand Citizenship to be considered for this role.

Mō te tūnga | About the Role

DIA is the custodian of information for New Zealanders, which requires us to maintain several registers or data sets. As well registers, data sets are held in various forms with different legislative access requirements. Your role will be to identify and resolve corrupt, inaccurate, or irrelevant data with data cleaning.

  • You'll play a critical role to ensuring that data and records on our current platforms are in an appropriate state for data migration
  • You'll work in a closely and collaboratively with your peers and Team Leader to ensure best outcomes

Te Ara Manaaki is a multi-year cabinet-approved programme responsible for transforming its system of service delivery for identity and life event services and products. Our work includes:

Modernising the civil registration system is not just about modernising technology, it is about supporting the underpinning fabric of society - a proven identity is the anchor for New Zealanders to access many public and private sector services. Our customers can already order birth, death and marriage certificates and apply for some services online. It's time for an upgrade so we're modernising and future proofing our technology and improving how information is shared and kept secured.
