Senior Systems Engineer/Kaipūhanga Pūnaha at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley, Wellington Hospital

Contract:  Permanent, full-time

Salary:  $100,000 - $115,000

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

A new opportunity has opened in the On-Premise team managing our infrastructure environment and being a part of the migration to the cloud. This role is responsible for operational ownership for the delivery of BAU, Project work and Assurance functions for Te Whatu Ora.

In this technical role, you will part of the team ensuring availability and performance of the servers that host the Districts applications and ICT services. This position is a senior position responsible for providing support of the core ICT infrastructure with a focus on Server technologies to the third level through problem resolution and maintenance of production systems to maximize availability and performance of production systems. There will be elements of mentoring of team members and being technical lead in projects.

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

The Server On-Premise team maintains Te Whatu Ora - a infrastructure environment.  We are a close knit team of 7, spread across the regions hospitals (Wellington Regional, Hutt and Wairarapa)

The role is part of the wider Platforms and Security teams and will be required to work closely with other ICT teams in supporting our Digital Workplace programme of work and Cloud journey. 

This operational role is critical to the execution of our Infrastructure strategy which is a foundational epic of our Digital Strategy.

Moū - About you

It is essential that you bring at least 5 years' technical experience in a similar infrastructure role within large enterprise organisations. We are looking for excellent communication skills, commitment to delivering high quality solutions to business needs, and an ability to work in a team that delivers a high availability service.

You will have experience and sound understanding of customer service delivery in an IT environment. Effective reasoning skills and an understanding of ITIL practices.

You will need an understanding of Agile practices and the SCRUM framework.

Other skills and experience we are looking for:

  • Experience supporting Linux servers
  • Experience working in a VMware ESX environment.
  • Experience supporting Net App SAN - s
  • An understanding of Microsoft technologies, provisioning and supporting Microsoft servers in both on premise and Cloud environments.
