You will never have an uneventful day in the Nelson Hospital Emergency Department! 

ED nursing uses all your skills and provides daily learning opportunities, with around 28,000 patient presentations per annum across the lifespan. We focus on excellent, quality care and are committed to improving the experience of patients and their whanau.

We have casual, parental leave and fixed-term positions available:

Casual positions- working on an as required basis across all shifts, covering staff leave and periods of peak service demand. Some forward planning and rostering will be available when covering planned leave. However, it's important that you have the flexibility to sometimes work at short notice.

We have both temporary positions (covering parental leave), and fixed-term positions (covering secondments), available within the 0.5FTE to 0.8FTE range (I.E. 40 to 64 hours a fortnight).

The duration of these positions ranges from 8 to 12 months.

Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)

You will be a NZ Registered Nurse with a current NZNC practising certificate and post-registration nursing experience in ED or acute care. You will also be a team player, who enjoys keeping up to date with clinical practice, with excellent organisational and time management skills and a commitment to quality.

Te Whatu Ora staff must have completed their primary course of two NZ approved COVID-19 vaccines as they have direct contact with patients and members of the public.

The full-time equivalent salary range for these RN positions is $72,061 to $95,340 based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA, (pay equity adjusted) dependent on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.
