Te Ara Manapou means ‘the pathway of sustenance’ Te Ara is a pathway and Manapou is a way of sustaining and supporting life. The emphasis here is twofold - the pathway of sustenance and journey of wellbeing. It relates both to parenting and support.
As an integral member of the team, you will bring your lived experience and understanding of maternal mental health. This experience will provide insight and support to the team by providing an understanding of the client’s perspective in their care. While at the same time you seek an opportunity to work in a cohesive well supported team and grow through their experience.
The successful applicant will incorporate aspects of Tikanga Maori into work practices; create and sustain an environment that promotes bi-culturalism and responsiveness to Maori issues; establish an environment of respect and trust when working to advance cross cultural understanding.
Your unique insight and understanding of the client journey, and their lived experience will enable you to develop an empathetic, professional and supportive relationship with them.
Excellent engagement and communication skills, a non-judgmental attitude and an ability to work autonomously within a team are vital.
Te Whatu Ora is large enough to provide variety and depth of work experience, with good support and supervision, yet small enough to be a friendly team with good social interaction. Hawke's Bay Hospital is a 400 bed hospital providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region. We have strengthening Primary and Community health services and an increasingly integrated approach to health and health care.
There’s no doubt that we’re charting the course for the rest of the country. Hawke’s Bay is a region with a number of communities who really need our help, and Te Whatu Ora, Te Matau a Māui is absolutely determined to improve the lives of those residents.
You won’t find this opportunity just anywhere, and when you combine this with the chance to live in New Zealand’s own piece of paradise, you have to ask yourself “why work anywhere else”? If you don’t live here already, then take a stroll through the Hawke’s Bay Tourism website and get yourself to Hawke’s Bay!
This is a part time position, with hours worked between Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Flexible hours negotiable.
