Nurse Consultant - Peri-Anaesthesia at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Auckland

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are looking for an exceptional senior perioperative nurse with proven leadership skills and a passion to take up this senior nursing role which is designed to improve quality and patient safety.

This role involves working with the Nurse Director and Associate Nurse Directors to promote and coordinate a culture of nursing excellence and continuous quality improvement throughout the directorate and across the perioperative continuum. 

You will be supported by an experienced and professional team and will have the opportunity to lead from the front. In this role, you will be working with all of the Operating Rooms, PACU, Anaesthesia and Sterile Sciences Service across Te Toka Tumai as well as collaborating with a number of stakeholders.

This is a permanent-part time role with days and hours to be negotiated.  This is a fantastic opportunity that does not come along often!

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

 In this role you will be expected to: 

  • Promote, develop and implement evidence based practice, including primary research, to improve clinical effectiveness
  • Lead continuous quality improvement
  • Provide professional and clinical advice, support and education and be an organisational resource for clinical staff to ensure all perioperative patients and their families receive safe quality care.

You will have significant recent perioperative nursing experience within an acute environment. You will have a proven track record of project management skills and demonstrated leadership within the perioperative specialty. You will have undertaken post graduate study, preferably to Masters level.
