Senior Systems Analyst - Payroll at Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children, Wellington

Oranga Tamariki has recently set up a new payroll function and has implemented SAP Success Factors Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll.   We have a great opportunity for a payroll and systems expert to join our newly established team based in Wellington, working alongside another Senior Systems Analyst Payroll along with the broader Payroll team.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Senior Systems Analyst Payroll is responsible for payroll system and applications management and enhancement.  This will involve working closely with the external Support Partner and our internal teams to resolve system issues, undertake system configuration and maintenance, as well as coordinating changes, upgrades and releases. 

We are at the earliest stages of embedding the new payroll system into our operations and this presents opportunities to work on projects that enhance the payroll system, processes and services to ensure that we are delivering a great experience for our kaimahi.  

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Payroll team, and broader People and Leadership teams, to deliver a cohesive, efficient and effective payroll administration and processing service.
  • Monitor system performance and the control environment to ensure system integrity.
  • End-to-end management of incident and defect processes, involving other teams or vendors as required.
  • Lead the identification, development and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the payroll system and processes.

Ensure all payroll internal controls and compliance requirements are met.

 

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Key requirements of the role include but not limited to: 

  • Technical knowledge of SAP specifically Employee Central Payroll and Employee Central Sound experience working in a systems administrator/analyst role within a complex payroll environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to critically analyse, interpret and clearly present complex information and make effective, well-reasoned decisions.
  • Excellent customer focus by anticipating and meeting customer needs as well as helping the customer to understand their information needs.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture

Annual remuneration for this position starts between $100,441 and $111,601 dependant on experience.
