Te Waimate Mission (Waimate North, Northland) is part of the national suite of historic properties managed by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga. The mission station dates to 1830 and has a long and diverse history as the first Mission farm, the site of the second signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in 1840, operating as a theological college, home of the first Anglican Bishop of New Zealand, and being occupied by the military during the Northern Land Wars.

This Visitor Host role works closely with our visitors and other hosts, guiding school groups, booked tours like cruise ship groups, and local and international visitors.

This is a winter role (May-October) at Te Waimate on a rotating roster, offering regular work on a scheduled timetable. Te Waimate operates on seasonal hours with opportunities for increased hours as we shift into the summer season.

Our ideal candidate will be a motivated team player who is a confident speaker and comfortable with retail technology. We provide training to staff on the bi-cultural history of our properties. The role includes regular weekend work e.g. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
