Te tūranga - The role
The Adviser Data Development is a new subject matter leadership role within the Data, Statistics and Analytics department, reporting to the Data Development Manager. This is a senior technical leadership role, in which the Adviser will use their expertise to lead large-scale strategic data initiatives that will better enable data-driven decision-making at the Bank.
The primary focus of this role will be to advise on new data requirements and ensure a common understanding of key concepts that will underpin requirements of the proposed Deposit Takers Act. This Act will create a single regulatory regime for all entities who hold deposits, and will enable a new Depositor Compensation Scheme to protect deposits held in these institutions.
This role will be critical as we design and build new data collections for deposit takers. Collections could take the form of aggregated financial reporting surveys, specific case studies, or larger, granular datasets that will be required to implement the depositor compensation scheme. Each collection will need consideration of the most effective tools to design, build, and utilise them well.
The Adviser Data Development is expected to collaborate effectively within and across departments to achieve the RBNZ's objectives and shape the department's work programme. Stakeholder engagement skills will be crucial to learn about what data users need and ensure a common understanding of concepts and processes in collaboration with data suppliers and users.
In addition to leading specific projects, the Adviser provides technical guidance on a range of initiatives from across the wider Department. This will involve coaching other team members, and scoping and prioritising initiatives to manage our development work programme in a sustainable way.
