Service:    Endocrine, Diabetes & Research Centre

Contract:  0.8 FTE, Permanent Part-time, Registered Nurse - Endocrine and Diabetes

Salary:     RN Step 5 (as the minimum) on the NZNO MECA 

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

This nursing role is for a permanent part-time Registered Nurse role in the Endocrine, Diabetes and Research Centre (EDRC) at Capital Coast. You will work primarily in endocrine nursing. Potentially, there is an opportunity to do some diabetes nurse work in this role in due time. You will be based in Wellington Hospital except if directed by the service to work at Kenepuru and/or Kapiti if required to meet service needs.

You will look after patients with endocrine and diabetes issues and ensure they receive equitable and safe care. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will receive support from the senior nurses for developing your knowledge and skills within your RN role. In the MDT circle, you will work closely with the medical, nursing and allied health teams for delivery of specialist and expert endocrine and diabetes care for patients. You will form key relationships with other hospital services, primary health care teams and critical external stakeholders fundamental in achieving better endocrine and diabetes health outcomes.

The EDRC at Capital Coast is a specialist regional Hospital and Health Service with teams based in Wellington, Kenepuru and Kapiti. Our teams of medical, nursing, allied health and administrative support staff work collaboratively together to achieve better health outcomes for patients living with endocrine and diabetes conditions in the district. Our research team engages in a number of research studies and lead in some key research enquiries in the field.

Moū - About you

We are looking for a registered nurse who has had recent and relevant clinical nursing experiences and is on the Professional Development Recognition Program (PDRP) as RN Proficient. It will be advantageous if you have had previous endocrine and/or diabetes clinical nursing experiences though these are not essential. As a critical member of the wider health team here, effective communication and good relationship building attributes will be valuable. You will work closely with the senior nurses for specialist nurse support to develop critical knowledge and expertise as well as the medical team.

Should you expand your clinical skills and knowledge into diabetes, the Diabetes Nursing Knowledge and Skills Framework (2018) will be utilized as the framework for diabetes nurse development. You must hold a current NZNC registration and annual practicing certificate and have legal rights to work in New Zealand.
