Advisor to join our Water Services Reform team as we embark on a transformative journey to improve the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders. As Policy Advisor - Mana Takirua - Enhancing Te Tiriti Relationships, you will play a role in ensuring the Crown's commitments and obligations in Treaty Settlements and Te Tiriti o Waitangi are appropriately recognised, understood, and reflected in the development of the legislative frameworks and mechanisms that give effect to the water service reform outcomes and in the establishment of the new water service entities.

As a successful candidate, you will have skills in policy analysis and development, as well as a thorough understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Treaty Settlements. You may be starting out in your policy career or have policy experience that you can bring to this role. You'll be part of a supportive team working to undertake research, analysis, and provide advice from a Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Mana o te Wai perspective to support the Water Services Reform Programme.
If you have the following skills and experience, we would really like to hear from you:
- A degree in a relevant field (such as policy, social sciences, or law) or experience in policy analysis, research, and development
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Treaty settlement process.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy
Knowledge and understanding of the machinery of government and the policy development process.
