Applications are invited for the 2024 year for a 6 to 12 month attachment in General & Acute Care medicine in rural hospitals. We highly encourage applications from our Māori communities.

 

We provide an excellent general medical training environment, clinical supervision is provided by General physicians, geriatrician's, rural hospital specialists and emergency medicine specialists. 

 

There are opportunities for career planning and development. You will work closely with consultants and have many opportunities to progress your procedural skills. 

 

Candidates who have completed two years post graduate hospital and who have an interest in General & Acute care medicine in Rural Hospitals will be considered.

 

We provide an excellent generalist training environment with a broad and interesting case mix. Clinical supervision is provided by rural medicine specialists, geriatricians, emergency medicine specialists and general physicians.

  • Accredited training position for Division of General Acute Care Medicine Royal Australian College of Physicians
  • Protected teaching and learning opportunities
  • Candidates who have completed two years post graduate hospital and who have an interest in General & Acute Care medicine in rural hospitals may be provided research and project opportunities

 

Thames hospital is a 50 bed rural hospital with a busy Emergency Department.

 

Thames is a coastal town known as the gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula. There is easy access to native bush with world class walks, tramps and surf beaches in this popular recreational area.

Accommodation is provided.
