Rural Hospital Medicine Registrar - Lakes
Are you a rural hospital medicine (RHM) registrar struggling to co-ordinate your placements? Is it difficult to get access to required runs to complete your training? Te Whatu Ora Lakes is offering you the opportunity to complete all your RHM training in the Lakes region.
Te Whatu Ora Lakes offers a great place to live and work with numerous lakes, rivers and trails on your doorstep for you to explore. Lakes covers an area 9570 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 110,000 including a high proportion of Maori. Te Whatu Ora Lakes is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and strives for equitable health outcomes for Māori.
Registrars will be based at Rotorua and Taupo Hospitals during their RHM training programme.
Rotorua is a secondary base hospital providing a wide range of services including ED, medical and surgical specialties, ICU, Anaesthesia, O&G, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. Taupo is a Level 3 rural hospital with a 24/7 ED, 15 bed inpatient unit and various day stay and outpatient services. All required runs for RHM training are accredited by the DRHMNZ.
Our consultants provide close supervision for trainees combined with a strong commitment to teaching. You will gain valuable experience managing a wide variety of conditions in various care settings.
By joining Te Whatu Ora Lakes, you will become part of a young, dynamic team of health professionals across Taupo and Rotorua hospitals and community sites during your four year training. Te Whatu Ora Lakes will ensure you are allocated placements in your required and elective runs to gain your FDRHMNZ including support for your academic training components and required courses. Through your training, you will develop the skills, experience and collegial relationships to work as a Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist at Taupo Hospital.
