We are seeking applications for a Haematology/Medical Oncology Research Fellow. As part of the fellowship, you will have the opportunity to undertake a specific cancer research project with support from experienced research staff and senior academic supervision/ direction. The fellow will also work closely under supervision of principal investigators to provide clinical care for patients enrolled in a range of haematology and oncology clinical trials. This is an up to full-time (1.0 FTE) position that would suit a trainee in Haematology/Medical Oncology with an interest in gaining further research and clinical trial experience; and can be extended into a higher degree. There is the option of a part time role which can be negotiated. The Regional Cancer Centre is associated with a large Tertiary Hospital in Hamilton; and is New Zealand’s second largest cancer treatment facility. Our unit provides Haematology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Palliative Care services in the Waikato region. You will join a dynamic team of 9 haematologists and 8 medical oncologists; and also work alongside advanced training registrars, rotating registrars, house officers and trial coordinators.
As a team we strive to increase research opportunities across all aspects of patient care. Our Cancer and Blood Research Trial Unit provides access to a range of industry sponsored and investigator initiated clinical trials. The clinical trials span a variety of tumour streams across Haematology and Oncology in the phase II and phase III space. With staff links to the University of Auckland Faculty of Medicine, there will also be an option to pursue a higher degree.

Applicants must have an interest in Haematology/Medical Oncology, and be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
