Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Addictions Services, Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau
Kia Ora Ake is a brand new, locally co-designed approach to tamariki hinengaro wellbeing in Counties Manukau. Kia Ora Ake has been designed especially for Counties communities, in partnership with Mana Whenua i Taamaki Makaurau, whaanau, communities, health services, educators and schools.
Kia Ora Ake is funded as part of the national Mana Ake programme and is a school- and community-based hinengaro (mental and emotional) wellbeing approach providing support to primary and intermediate school aged tamariki, their whaanau and the schools they attend.
Key Kia Ora Ake outcomes:
- Delivery of a culturally safe and relevant approach that directly benefits tamariki Maaori and whaanau Maaori as a priority.
- Improved hinengaro wellbeing outcomes for all tamariki in the Counties Manukau rohe.
- Contributing to access to support for tamariki and whaanau when they need it, in safe spaces of their choosing (school, home, marae, or another community place).
- Partnership with education, and support of educators to build confidence and competence in the area of tamariki hinengaro wellbeing.
- Ongoing local development of the approach, and locally designed interventions within schools and communities to ensure that help is available when problems first arise.
- Earlier help and enabling communities to take action on tamariki hinengaro wellbeing.
Kia Ora Ake Liaison Team – we are building a Kia Ora Ake Liaison team of equal and respected taumata and see this as an exciting opportunity for people with clinical expertise or cultural maatauranga – or both.
Kia Ora Ake Liaison (clinical) – you will be an experienced, registered mental health practitioner, with proven leadership ability and experience in providing clinical practice support and supervision. You will have the commitment and capacity to model culturally safe and relevant practice and be committed to Tiriti partnership.
Kia Ora Ake Liaison (cultural) – you will be an experienced cultural practitioner with extensive experience in community settings (NGO / education / health). You will be highly connected with mana whenua and maataawaka communities and have expertise in te Ao Maaori and tikanga me Taamaki Makaurau. You may or may not be a registered health professional.
These roles will be based in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) at Counties Manukau Te Whatu Ora, and will have liaison and key relationship roles between CAMHS, the future Kia Ora Ake Provider Network, schools, communities, school-based services, and other social, education and health services.
To be a successful candidate you will have solid clinical or cultural matauranga, and experience of working with tamariki and whaanau.
These are full time roles working Monday to Friday. We are able to discuss fixed-term or permanent roles for the right candidates.
