Consultant Haematologist (1.0 FTE 12-month fixed term) – Haematology Department, CM Health

Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau is a dynamic and progressive organisation at the forefront of innovative health delivery, working with New Zealand’s most culturally diverse populations. 

Middlemore Hospital (800-beds), provides medical and surgical care to a rapidly growing population of approximately 601,000 people. The Haematology department provides diagnostics & clinical support services for patients with the full range of haematological malignant and non-malignant disorders and has in-patient ward, chemotherapy day ward, outpatient, coagulation, haematology laboratory and blood bank services, all located on-site.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Haematopathologist  to join our existing team of 6 haematologists for 12 months to cover extended leave.  The successful candidate will be responsible for all haematological diagnostic services within the department, including coagulation, peripheral blood and bone marrow reporting, quality assurance activities, and clinical liaison.  Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is a key component to this role and there is the opportunity to combine with outpatient haematology clinics for suitably trained applicants. 

Applicants should ideally be Fellows of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent, and eligible for Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Although experience in clinical haematology and pathology is preferred, recently qualified graduates will be considered.
