Senior Legal Adviser at Government Communications Security Bureau, Wellington

We need a talented Senior Legal Adviser to join our GCSB Legal Team in Wellington.
We can't reveal all the details of what you'll get to work on - but it will be complex and challenging, covering a wide range of operational and administrative activities for the GCSB, including those of the utmost sensitivity.
We're looking for someone who can provide excellent legal advice at a senior level (minimum of 8 years' post-qualification experience), is comfortable managing legal risk and has knowledge of public and administrative law.
You'll be able to accurately and concisely provide advice in our unique environment, demonstrating a principled and practical attitude to your work. As well as your knowledge and a commitment to the Crown's te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership, you'll be mindful of its impact on GCSB's work and keep up with developments recognising tikanga and te Ao Maori in the law. As a trusted adviser you'll be discreet, identifying and offering solutions to legal problems.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
