Mō te tūnga | About the role
We are looking for someone to come add value to the Student Advisor team. Our Student Advisors play an important role in our learner experience, ensuring our prospective and current learners get the right advice, at the right time, to enrol and progress on the right study pathway.
Working closely with other Open Polytechnic | Te Pūkenga directorates, Student Advisors also guide our learners through their study journey, advise on credit transfer, and ensure learner facing information relating to our qualifications is informative and up to date.
Previous experience working in a customer/learner support role, or in providing in-depth advice to customers/learners is preferred.
This role can be based from our Lower Hutt campus or remotely.
The ideal candidate will have
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Fantastic networking skills, and able to utilise internal networks to assist learner decision making
- Effective listening skills and the ability to build a rapport with learners
- A high level of computer literacy

- The ability to prioritise workload so that enrolments are approved in a timely way
- The ability to define and articulate information effectively and appropriately for the situation and audience
- Excellent planning skills to manage multiple tasks in a busy work environment, while at the same time provide collegial support to other Student Advisors.
