Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
Te
Whatu Ora Health New Zealand (Nelson Marlborough) formerly NMDHB
- 1.0 FTE / Permanent
- Blenheim
Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)
Grow your skills across the health system. Wairau Hospital in Blenheim (66 beds) is seeking to develop a tier of - generalist - registrars to offer good training in multiple areas of care. Wairau Hospital is situated at the top of the South Island with easy access to Picton, Wellington, Kaikoura, Nelson and Christchurch. Wairau Hospital is a brand new hospital amongst a vineyard filled, high sunshine area of the South Island. A small rural hospital with great collegiality.
These newly created roles are offered as 6 or 12 month blocks of time in Medicine, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, General Practice and Urgent Care.
Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
The roles will suit doctors PGY3 and above who are planning careers in General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Rural Hospital Medicine, Medicine, Surgery, or those who wish to experience different areas of care while consolidating skills and deciding future intentions. The positions offer exposure to all acute and chronic care needs that the community requires, supported by SMOs and carrying a case load and continuity of care with levels of responsibility seldom experienced in larger hospitals.
Within your run, you will support more junior RMOs, with duties in acute and planned care. The high SMO to RMO ratio within a smaller hospital means high levels of contact with SMOs can be achieved as well as opportunities for outpatient work and time in theatre. The General Practice runs also focus on training opportunities and supporting people to experience the benefits of working and living in the Marlborough Community.
As these are newly created roles you will be expected to take on elements of co-design for these roles as the systems are developed to ensure good training, supervision, responsibility and continuity of care. 2024 will be a transition year developing full Registrar cover as staffing and processes are developed.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or
hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
