Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We’re looking for a qualified Optometrist to provide high quality care in our Glaucoma service. You’ll work independently in conjunction with a supervising Ophthalmologist to assess and manage patients in the outpatient clinic. Day to day you’ll examine and manage routine glaucoma and medical retina patients. You’ll also have skills in assessing intraocular pressure, visual function tests, full ocular examination including gonioscopy and fundal exam, optic disc assessment and analysis of OCT and Humphrey visual fields.

Mōu | About you
Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
-
Bachelor of Applied Science (Optometry) with therapeutic qualifications (or equivalent degree eligible for registration as an optometrist in NZ)

Current Registration and Practicing Certificate (or eligible to apply for)

Two years experience working as an Optometrist would be desirable
-
Advanced computer literacy
-
Ability to work efficiently under pressure

An interest and experience in paediatric refraction would be preferred but not essential

As a member of the Ophthalmology team, this role has shared accountability for a population of over 700,000. The team consists of 12 part time consultant ophthalmologists, 1 fellow, 4 training registrars and 3 non-training registrars.
