Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking an experienced General Medicine Physician with a Rheumatology subspecialty to join the Department of Medicine at Taranaki. This is a 12-month role to support our current Rheumatologist and provide leave relief.
The role consists of participation in the acute ward roster (General Medicine) and Rheumatology subspecialty clinics. The roster is a 50% split (3 weeks on 3 weeks off) between General Medicine and Rheumatology (negotiable). Outpatient Rheumatology clinics are supported by two Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialists.
The role also involves providing advice to general physicians, GP’s, Surgeons. Emergency Medicine Physicians and where required, providing inpatient consultation. The General Medicine inpatient work includes on call responsibilities as per a rotating roster.
Moū - About you
Ideally, you will hold FRACP and full Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
If you are an overseas specialist physician, you will hold equivalent specialist qualifications from either Australia (FRACP), the UK (MRCP/FRCP and CCT), Ireland (FRCPI and CCT), Canada (FRCPC) or USA (American Board Certification) that will enable Provisional Vocational (long term) registration or Locum Tenens (short term up to 12 months) registration.
Locum Tenens and Provisional Vocational registration are the two pathways to medical registration in NZ for Specialist Physicians and we can assist with your medical registration and visa, if successfully appointed.
