We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospital pharmacist with strong leadership capabilities to lead our team of pharmacists who provides clinical pharmacy services to the Surgical division at Counties Manukau. The clinical areas we cover include the National Burns Centre, General Surgery, Plastics, Vascular, Orthopaedics, Nutritional Support and the Manukau Surgery Centre.
The opportunity:
In this Team Leader role, you will manage the day to day operations and the performance of the pharmacy surgical team to ensure that we provide excellent patient care as well as achieve our service deliverables. Working alongside the wider management and leadership pharmacy team, the Surgical Team Leader will also provide input into the strategic planning and leadership of progressive and innovative services, with the aim to improve efficiency, safety and quality of patient-centred care and help contribute towards the organisation’s goal of reducing health inequities for our communities. In addition, a key component of this role will be to provide direct patient care within a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
The Surgical Team Leader is also responsible for the ongoing support and professional development of pharmacists at all levels of skills and experience. The ability to appropriately challenge, coach and mentor team members to perform to the best of their abilities as well as effective time management and organisation skills are key success factors.
This senior role would suit someone already in a leadership role wanting to grow and extend their experience in a larger environment, or an aspiring leader with the right attitude and potential.

We are looking for a pharmacist who is/has:
• Eligible to work in NZ
• New Zealand Registered Pharmacist with current APC or eligibility to obtain one
• Able to work flexible hours (such as participating in our extended service hours, oncall and weekend rosters)
• At least 4, preferably over 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience and demonstrated high standard of practice and clinical credibility
• Demonstrated excellent leadership capability with genuine interest for service and people development
• Patient-focused, driven and able to lead self, people and teams to achieve ambitious goals
• Effective at communication and decision-making
• Leads by example, acts as a positive role model and enabler of change
• Demonstrated strong initiative, accountability and resilience
