Registered Nurse - Sexual Health Clinic at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand South Canterbury, Talbot Park Hospital

The Sexual Health Service based at Timaru Hospital is a free and confidential service for anyone concerned and wanting advice.  The service also provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a range of sexual health conditions and supports patients and their whanau/families. 

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with the appropriate experience to join the team and provide patient focused and culturally appropriate care that is delivered with the utmost professionalism, dignity, respect, empathy, and above all confidentiality.

The person for this role will need to have clinical experience in the field of sexual health and be able to lead and provide contemporary best practice to meet the needs of a wide range of people and conditions.  Additionally, to impart appropriately targeted education, while providing supportive testing and follow-up services.

The successful candidate should have the following attributes:

  • Significant level of relevant clinical experience and assessment skills
  • Able to function as an autonomous practitioner
  • Follows best practice sexual health guidelines ensuring the provision of quality care
  • Ability to incorporate education, health promotion and support to meet the needs of the clients and family / whanau in their care
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral and the ability to relate well to people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Authorised vaccinator or willing to work towards this qualification

The successful person will need to be registered with the Nursing Council and have a current practising certificate.
