Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)
This is a permanent role (0.6 FTE) , based at the Marlborough Health Hub, supporting the delivery of the Stop Smoking Service district-wide. Working with the Te Whatu Ora (Nelson Marlborough) Smokefree team, the successful applicant will provide guidance and support for people wishing to quit smoking. The role will include delivery of individual, as well as group-based support. Hauora Māori and health equity are priorities for our service.
Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
You will be an accredited stop smoking practitioner, or be willing to undergo the required training. You will have a background in health, counselling, addictions, or social services as well as experience working with complex clients. You will bring motivational interviewing skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of health professionals and providers. You will demonstrate a commitment to equity and the ability to create a safe, culturally appropriate environment for change. You will act as a role model with respect to leading a healthy lifestyle, including being a non-smoker.
