Salary:      As per Designated Senior Nurse Salary Scales (Band 4-5 Dependant on Experience) PSA

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary Team at the Regional Rangatahi inpatient Service (RRAIS). The Rangatahi Unit is a 12 bedded mental health acute unit, that provides a service for adolescents aged between 13 to 17 years of age who have a serious mental health disorder (as defined in the DSM 1V). The young person will be requiring intensive treatment, investigation or observation (24 hours per day) that cannot safely or adequately be provided in a community setting. 

The purpose of the role is to support the implementation of organisational initiatives and day-to-day management of all nursing areas (people, process, and physical resources), and to ensure a safe patient journey within the area of responsibility.

The Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM) will provide clinical leadership on the floor to bring about practice improvements. The ACNM also has a shared responsibility with the Charge Nurse Managers for team and professional development ensuring ever higher levels of safe and competent practice. 

RRAIS is one of three adolescent inpatient services in New Zealand. It is a regional service for the lower North Island providing for adolescents from the Wellington region up to and including Gisborne.

The Rangatahi Unit provides a Therapeutic Day Programme for Inpatients designed to meet the needs of the Rangatahi experiencing an acute episode of mental illness.

Whanau are an important element in the work we do, as such we work collaboratively with whanau and young people to build resilience to enable young people and whanau to live their best lives and realise their potential. 

The team has bicultural focus and is supported by a Kaumatua and a Kuia, the team uses a Maori health model to guide their practice with emphasis on whanaungatanga, tikanga.

The team is committed to workforce development, continuous learning and service improvement.

Moū - About you

You will hold relevant registration and qualifications: (Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as an RN and a current practicing certificate).

Place high value on upholding Te Whatu Ora and RRAIS values and initiatives of health and wellbeing. 

Passionate on working with adolescents in promoting recovery and independence.
