Suicide prevention across the region is being addressed by a large number of social agencies and community group. All looking to impact New Zealand - s poor statistics around suicide. The primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership and coordinate these efforts to foster relationships, establish common approaches and standards. We have two permanent part-time roles available working 40 hours per fortnight.
Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
You will be a qualified health professional with a background in health promotion, quality improvement or project management. In order to succeed in this role you will have the:
- Ability to work with partner agencies to review and strengthen prevention, intervention and postvention initiatives across the health sector. You will lead and update clear protocols and pathways that support a coordinated response across the partner agencies.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team, to maintain data bases, respond to changing demographics of those self harming and attempting suicide. The ability to review to meet program goals and objectives,
- Knowledge of complex mental health and drug and alcohol issues;
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the health and social services sectors and ability to lead or contribute to strategic policy development on suicide prevention and postvention actions.
- Experience working with people with mental illness and those at risk of suicidal behaviour.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
