This is your opportunity to provide leadership on best practice financial investment management and performance analysis to drive improved business performance. You will provide strategic planning and performance advice and analysis to the Senior Leadership Team and business groups that enables monitoring and reporting of MBIE’s progress against MBIE’s investment plan.
You will lead the development of long-term strategic financial planning, including leading the development of a long-term investment model and affordability analysis for the Ministry. Working with a high performing team you will provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to enable team members to perform to their maximum potential.
- In this role you will enjoy a high level of autonomy to influence and build relationships to drive the integration of strategic investment planning and performance across the Ministry
- Provide leadership on best practice financial investment management performance analysis to drive improved business performance in a Public Sector organisation
- The Finance and Performance branch, which sits within Corporate Services, Finance and Enablement is responsible for leading MBIE wide strategic financial and commercial planning and establishing organisational frameworks. The branch presents an enterprise view to our Senior Leadership Team providing advice and oversight to ensure MBIE is financially sustainable, and value driven
- Support to develop your career and goals with access to our extensive learning and development programmes and budget to attend externally run training
Skills and Experience Required
- Excellent understanding of and demonstrated technical expertise at a senior level in developing and applying best practice financial business planning and performance reporting
- Significant experience advising on and modelling a long-term investment plan within a large complex and diverse organisation including capital management, depreciation funding, SAAS, and lease arrangements
- Highly developed business analysis, performance and reporting skills and the ability to provide high quality and innovative strategic advice
- Highly developed technical, conceptual and analytical ability, with the ability to deal with complex and emerging issues that contain a high level of ambiguity
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, demonstrated through experience at a senior level in successfully leading and producing key accountability, planning and budget related documents and performance reports
- Public Sector finance management expertise
- Proven ability to think independently and coordinate organisation-wide systems and processes

- High standards of professionalism and performance driven
- Experience leading successful change initiatives
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 5+ years post CA experience in Public Sector roles
