Who are we?

The New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) investigates and counters threats to New Zealand's security. Our Surveillance Technical Unit, within the Intelligence Directorate, is now seeking a Surveillance Manager to join our growing team in Wellington. An Auckland candidate maybe considered. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly-motivated operational team delivering insights to support security investigations for New Zealand.

The role:

Be responsible for leading a team of Surveillance Officers which includes leading and planning surveillance operations within a cross-functional Unit while ensuring secure, efficient delivery of NZSIS operational security and intelligence objectives. You will work with our Technical Operations team to integrate technical surveillance capabilities to enhance operational outcomes. Provide day-to-day leadership and operational line management of a team to ensure their on-going success and development.  We promise no two days will ever be the same here!

Who are you?

You'll have current or previous surveillance experience with a comprehensive understanding of surveillance methods and tactics. Proven operational leadership experience to achieve results in a security intelligence context is also desired.

In addition you will demonstrate:

• an ability to identify and assess risk and make sound operational decisions
• a strong work ethic with a commitment to fostering good stakeholder relationships
• proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• a sound problem solving ability
• experience in cross-functional team environments
• a preparedness to work under a flexible work schedule - including weekend work
• initiative, enthusiasm, drive and a commitment to continuous improvement
• resilience under pressure

As the successful candidate you must be able to commit to work in Auckland for training within the first six months of your employment.  This includes block periods of time which may include weekends.
