Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Labcare Pathology in Hawera Hospital has a casual phlebotomist position available which will be covering predominantly outpatient phlebotomy and assisting in morning ward rounds if needed. This position will also cover reception duties welcoming and greeting patients, answering telephone queries and sorting request forms. 

The ideal candidate would become part of a team covering phlebotomy and reception within our Hawera Laboratory.   The successful applicant would need to be available between the hours of 0800 to 1630 Monday – Friday as part of our inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy service.  

We welcome all applicants with the following attributes:

  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council (Not essential) or are committed to attaining the relevant qualification required.
  • Phlebotomy experience. (Not essential, training will be provided)
  • Able to carry out technical duties under the supervision of a senior staff laboratory staff\
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Has excellent computer skills and able to use Microsoft office and excel
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Experience working with a wide variety of people.
