The New Zealand Security Intelligence Service is looking for Intelligence Officers to join its mission to keep New Zealand safe. This is a role where people from any background can succeed. Our Intelligence Officers are incredible people who are dedicated to the mission of keeping us all safe. Their role is to collect intelligence or information which directly contributes to mitigating security threats. They do this by meeting with people from a variety of communities and build confidential ongoing relationships to support the NZSIS mission - what we call 'human intelligence'. Our specialised training will prepare you for this unique career and a range of professional development opportunities await.
We are looking for people to join our teams in Wellington and Auckland. You will be working in a diverse and inclusive environment with people from a variety of cultures and professional backgrounds. The ability to speak a foreign language is not necessary to apply, but would be an advantage for your application.
Intelligence Officers begin with a salary in the range of $83,700 - $106,950, unless you have relevant proven experience in a similar role you will likely be offered the lower end of the band.

- Creative problem-solving skills

- Self-discipline and personal integrity with an ability to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance
- A tertiary qualification OR equivalent life experience
- Current full drivers licence (mandatory)
Handy things to know before applying:
- During the selection process, you will need to available for Cognitive Testing, Assessment Centres. and Interviews - dates to be advised.
- Successful applicants will start with us in July 2024 and will be required to commit to an intensive five month training course. This pass/fail course takes place predominantly in Wellington with some components based in Auckland. Accommodation and travel will be provided for those from out of town.
- NZSIS offers flexible working arrangements, but this role involves frequent domestic travel throughout New Zealand, including some nights away from home. This can sometimes mean working outside of normal business hours and away from home.
