We are seeking an Assistant Accountant, who enjoys working in an exciting work environment, has good communication skills, and the ability to deliver within challenging timeframes.
The Assistant Accountant will be assisting and reporting to the Reporting Accountant in the Corporate Finance team, who is responsible for New Zealand Police’s financial reporting. The Assistant Accountant will support the Reporting Accountant in reporting to Treasury via CFISnet, filing tax and statutory returns, and preparing the balance sheet reconciliations.
You will understand the financial information needs of the government, be innovative and continually look to improve and add greater value to the service provided. You will have good interpersonal and communication skills, and an enthusiastic approach to work with a 'can-do' attitude
Key Accountabilities:
- Assists in preparation and management of all tax obligations, including GST, WHT and FBT.
- Prepares the monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparation of month end journals
- Assists in the preparation of financial information for monthly Treasury monitoring and month end reports.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
- Experience in financial accounting and filing tax returns
- Good accounting and taxation knowledge is desired.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Able to organize and co-ordinate multiple tasks

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $67,873 and $78,713 dependant on skills and experience relevant to the role. – External only delete for internal adverts
