We are looking for an experienced people leader to join our Finance Operations team. This fixed term position provides leadership to a team of experienced Accounts Payable Officers to deliver a high standard of service, consistency, and efficient processing of payments.
As well as leading and developing a high-performing team:
- You will manage the teams workload, oversee timely and accurate execution of payment runs across multiple ledgers, and the loading of manual payments/transfers via the banking system.
- You will be working closely with the wider Finance Operations team to ensure all suppliers are paid on time and correctly.
- You will monitor accounts payable processes and ensure internal processing controls are maintained, drive process improvement, and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
In addition you will need to be flexible and able to lead fast-paced change. You will display resilience in an evolving financial environment, leading the team forward demonstrating positivity and optimism during any setbacks and challenges.
This role reports to the Manager Finance Operations in the Corporate Services branch within the Corporate Services, Finance & Enablement group. This position leads a team of 11 direct reports.

Skills and Experience Required
- Proven history of successful leadership skills
- Previous experience in accounts payable processes within a large and complex organisation
- Experience in the government sector
- Experience with Technology 1 FMIS package is desirable, though not essential
- Qualified, or studying towards, CAANZ Chartered Accountant or equivalent
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences
- Must have legal right to live and work in NZ
