Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

A permanent position has become available for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to be based at Tokoroa Hospital. The successful applicant will work 36 hours a week in our busy multidisciplinary laboratory as part of a small friendly team of scientists, technicians and phlebotomists.

 

The laboratory performs mainly Biochemistry and Haematology tests, and a limited range of Blood Bank and Microbiology. Once fully trained in all areas of the laboratory, you will join the roster to cover evening and weekend shifts, and will also participate in the on call roster.

Tokoroa Hospital has a 17 bed inpatient unit, a busy emergency department seeing approximately 13,500 presentations per year, a four bed primary birthing unit, outpatients department serviced by visiting specialists and a number of community services. GP practices and other health providers are co-located on the site.

 

Mōu | About you

Essential attributes:

  • Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist or Registered Medical Laboratory Technician

  • Adaptable and works well in a team environment as well as capable of working autonomously

  • Able to prioritise and multitask

  • Focused on continuous quality improvement

 

Preference will be given to applicants with previous medical laboratory experience, preferably in a multi discipline laboratory.
