• Medical Laboratory Scientist - Microbiology
• Full time permanent role - 80 hours per fortnight (1 FTE)

Te Whatu Ora, Waitematā District is committed to providing best care for everyone with continuing excellence in healthcare.

The laboratory operates a 24/7 service across both North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital.

We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Microbiology/Biochemistry department.

Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in Microbiology, preferably in a hospital laboratory. Some Biochemistry experience is preferred.

The successful candidate must be willing to train and work in both Microbiology and Biochemistry. Participation in a 24/7 multiskilled (Microbiology and Biochemistry) roster is a requirement, once training is completed.

New graduates with both Microbiology and Biochemistry placement experience would be considered.

 
You will need to be a team player, well organised and able to manage the demands of competing priorities in a busy hospital laboratory environment.

The applicant must have:

• A current annual practising certificate and current registration with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council or eligibility to register with the Council, or be a NZ Medical Laboratory Scientist new graduate.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A positive and flexible approach to shift work.
