- Mental Health Nurses needed at Haumaru Ōrite (formerly known as The Child & Family Unit (CFU)/Mother & Baby Unit (MBU) – based at the prestigious Starship Hospital, Auckland).
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment and specialist treatment.
- Permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week), Monday to Sunday, shift work.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced mental health nurse to join our team at Haumaru Ōrite.
Haumaru Ōrite is a super - regional specialist service providing assessment and treatment for children and adolescents (Haumaru Ōrite mo Rangatahi) and in a separate space providing assessment and treatment for mums and babies (Haumaru Ōrite mo Mama).
We are a 21-bed acute mental health inpatient unit working with Rangatahi from 0-18 years and their whanau and mama & pepi in our three bedded maternal mental health space.
The Rangatahi space is one of three Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service units in the country serving a very large region with strong commitment to collaboration between whaiora, whānau, staff, and other services.
The Mama & Pepi space is the second only in New Zealand.
As a member of the Team, you will work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment and specialist treatment to our client group.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
We are seeking applications from New Zealand and overseas registered nurses with a current APC. You will also bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as a strong commitment to a multi-disciplinary team approach. Experience of working with mental health is essential.
You will be a Registered Comprehensive (with PG Cert in MH) or Psychiatric Nurse with previous experience in an inpatient unit or community setting.
As a key member of this professional, dedicated team, you’ll be assessing and managing the needs of whaiora who are referred to the service with an acute mental health presentation and increased risk. Being a confident communicator and decision maker with strong nursing competencies are imperative.
