Workplace Lead at Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Wellington
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
An exciting opportunity for a Workplace Lead to join our People & Community leadership team.
Everybody should have a place to live that is warm, dry, safe, stable and affordable, with access to the support they need to live healthy, successful lives.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
This role will suit someone with energy and drive, who enjoys managing facilities in a modern workplace environment where no two days are the same.
With responsibility for the operational management and smooth running of Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga office premises, you will focus on providing a secure, sustainable, and fit-for-purpose workplace environment that enables and supports a thriving organisational community.
It's important to us that our workplace and resources are organised in ways that make it easy for our people to do great work, but this role is not just managing our facilities. We are focusing on organisational resilience, so you will also have the chance to think longer-term and lead the Ministry's approach to maturing its physical security, business continuity and workplace sustainability approaches.
The salary range for this role is $118,300 to $144,590 plus 3% Kiwisaver contribution.
Mōu | About you'
Your office and/or facilities management abilities will be second-to-none, and as a natural planner you will proactively manage your workplan to ensure our offices are set up in a way that enable collaboration, connection, productivity and flexibility.
You will take pride in working with others to ensure offices are operating seamlessly, and you don't mind doing the 'hands-on' work where needed. As first-point-of-contact for our landlords and providers/suppliers, you will have strong stakeholder management skills, with a positive and engaging communication style and a track record for building great relationships.
As a leader, you enjoy working with others to create a positive team environment where people feel inspired and enabled to grow. As someone who naturally works two-steps ahead, you will have a knack for joining-the-dots, strong business acumen, and a great radar for risk. You will know what to prioritise and know how to solve problems with ease.
You will know the best ways to build a culture where security is top-of-mind for people, and you will have experience leading and implementing initiatives that will support the organisation in its objectives under the Carbon Neutral Government Programme (CNGP).
What we can offer you'
- Flexible working policy to give work/life balance.
- Engaging employee-led people networks that celebrate diversity, provide safe spaces, and encourage thought-leadership.

- Wellbeing initiatives, tools and courses, and a discounted health insurance scheme
- Open minds - we aren't afraid of change and encourage fresh approaches and ideas from people who want to make a difference.
