Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking a senior Registered Nurse to join the Nurse Educator Team in the Hutt Valley. This is a permanent part time position at 0.4 FTE in our Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU). Your primary responsibility is to provide educational support to the MAPU. MAPU has 16 beds and is a short stay unit for patients with medical problems who require rapid assessment, priority investigations, early referral and intervention from allied health, and a multidisciplinary approach to discharge planning. Patients are either transferred from the Emergency Department and or direct GP referrals. This exciting opportunity does not come up often.
Moū - About you
Relevant clinical experience in education is highly desirable but not essential for this role. The position would suit a self-motivated, organised person who is passionate about education and development of the nursing workforce. The preferred candidate will need to have:
Nursing Council of New Zealand Registration and current APC
A Current PDRP
A minimum three years post graduate nursing experience with expertise in MAPU or critical care nursing
Experience in coaching and teaching and the proven ability to engage people at all levels
A commitment to applying principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
A post graduate qualification in nursing and prepared to work towards a Masters in Nursing
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft office software

The Hutt Valley Nurse Educator team consist of fifteen Nurse Educators who work throughout the hospital to provide education to our nursing workforce. They report to the Charge Nurse Manager Education and work closely with the Workforce and Practice Development Unit (W&PDU) to lead a culture of education and professional development to enhance the workforce capability to provide high quality and safe services.
