As an Authority Officer you will provide quality case management, administration, and operational support to the ERA members to assist them to carry out their functions efficiently and effectively.
While you will not be deciding applications, you will have a key role in ensuring that files are actively managed, that parties are dealt with respectfully and that members of the ERA are provided with the case management support that they need to progress matters to a determination.
The key tasks of the role:
- Providing administrative support to Authority Members including diary and case management.
- Able to liaise with various stakeholders.
- Building strong working relationships and effective communications with the Authority Members and team members.
- Can manage a large case or file load (upward of 100 files) both electronic and hardcopy, at various stages.
- Able to review, proofread, check simple calculations, names are correct, format, punctuate and check grammar of Member's determinations.
- Liaising with parties to arrange conference calls, meetings (both on site and remotely) and all relevant documentation.
- Able to make meeting venues bookings including arrange security, interpreters and special requests made by stakeholders.
- Provide details of ERA processes (Not providing legal advice) or provide recommendations to suitable agencies for assistance.
- File preparation both electronic (via database) and hardcopy file.
- Close both an electronic (via database) and hardcopy file.
- Answer general inquiries via email and phone - professionally and accurately.

- Strong administration skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and organise your work
- Ability to react and respond to changing priorities and deadlines
- Must have attention to detail and can follow instruction effectively
- Energy and a solution focused, positive and proactive attitude
- Have accurate data entry skills
- Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships
- Needs to be agile and flexible, adaptable to change and is cool under pressure
- Experience in dealing with upset and possibly difficult parties
- A high standard of written and oral communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills and service delivery mind-set
- Some legal knowledge or experience (able to interrupt legislation, understand legal talk, formal writing)
- Recognise that you are the point of contact for parties and the liaison between the parties and the Members
- Have strong IT skills in particular Microsoft products, working with databases, proficient calendar management
