Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

As a Kaiāwhina - Allied Health Assistant (AHA) you will join the Allied Health team supporting care to clients presenting to Nelson Hospital. Allied Health are a diverse group of clinicians who provide a wide range of preventative, diagnostic and therapeutic treatments as well as rehabilitation and enablement care across a patient - s whole life course. - Allied Health includes, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, speech language therapists, and social workers. You will work under the supervision of these Registered Allied Health Therapists to provide safe, efficient and effective AHA interventions. The role will also include effective management of resources and equipment.  

As part of the Critical Care Initiative, this is a permanent position working 40 hours per fortnight (0.5FTE) Monday - Friday, hours between 8-16:30 to be negotiated.

You will be a practical, well organised and physically fit person with life experience and excellent written and oral communication skills. You - ll have a friendly and welcoming manner with the ability to relate to a broad range of people of all ages. It will also be important that you can work under direction, be a cooperative team player who is supportive of your colleagues, and work in flexible, positive manner displaying an appropriate level of initiative.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.

Qualifications

No graduate qualifications are required although literacy and comprehension at NZQA Level 2 or equivalent is desired, and a current full driver - s licence.

If not previously obtained, you will be supported to achieve the NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand.
