The recent weather events in the upper North Island have left the transport network in need of significant repair. The impacts of Cyclone Gabrielle, has meant that Waka Kotahi has important work to do in bringing communities back together, reshaping the future, and recovering with resilience.

The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
As Senior Network Manager (Structures) you will help lead the stewardship of structural infrastructure in Northland managing delivery of structure designs and construction methodologies, ensuring structure maintenance is managed effectively, and provided maintenance comment into capital projects and create resilient connections and become a trusted advisor for that team.
As a member of the Network Management team, you will work closely with Maintenance Contract Managers and Journey Managers and be responsible for the delivery of our regional structure's maintenance and operations programme for the Northland area. Drawing on your broad set of skills and experience, you'll respond to customers' needs, whilst also taking a practical and pragmatic approach to managing suppliers. Your ability to make sound decisions and confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders will be key to your success in this influential role.

This is a hands-on challenging role; and to succeed you will bring:
- Technical and practical experience in Structural Asset Management or similar
- Experience at dealing with complex and sensitive issues in a political environment
- Solid knowledge and understanding of delivering best value solutions within a constrained budget
- Experience in emergency response, Lifelines, or resilience activities
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and collaboration skills
- A Bachelor of Structural Engineering or a relevant tertiary/trade qualification
- NZ Driver's Licence (or equivalent) is required
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
