Counties Manukau Integrated Mental Health and Addiction services vision is to improve health outcomes for Maaori, Pacifica and all services users within our community. We are looking for energetic, forward thinking Taurawhiri (Cultural Advisors) to work with our clinical teams who provide specialist care for tangata whaiora and whaanau across the lifespan, from mokopuna to kaumaatua.
You will part of a virtual mobile consultation and liaison team with a base in Papakura with Rapua Te Ao Waiora. You will work across community Mental Health and Addictions to ensure the cultural needs of Maaori tangata whaiora and their whaanau are addressed and woven into their wellness plans. The role includes cultural assessment and treatment, advice and education for staff, service users and whaanau and relevant cultural rituals such as powhiri and whakatau. Culturally, you will be responsible to the Timu Tikanga; Lead Cultural Advisor and operationally to the Team Manager of Rapua Te Ao Waiora.
Essential:
• Excellent communication skills in Te Reo and English in both oral and written form
• Strong networks in the Maaori community
• experience working with complex Maaori whaanau
• confident use of IT systems
• knowledge of Maaori Health and/or Maaori Mental Health are desirable skills.
• Full, clean drivers licence
