We currently have a vacancy for registered nurses to join our District Nursing Service on a 1 year fixed term contract. This is an opportunity for a motivated, innovative Registered Nurses – with the flexibility to work across both the rural and urban community as part of the District Nurse position. This is a 7 day a week service with hours between 8am - 5pm, and the successful applicant will be required to work rostered duties, including weekends and some on-call.

District nurses provide a wide range of services in their local communities, often visiting people in their home. We work closely with allied health staff such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists. District nurses provide a comprehensive range of quality, patient-focused, professional and holistic nursing services to patients’ through-out the life-span in the community setting.
This requires a person who is adaptable, dynamic and able to work autonomously. The district nurse role includes; advanced assessment, management, support and education for wound management, compression therapy, IV management, palliative/end of life care in the rural setting, continence assessment, catheter management, ostomy management, assessment for acute personal care and home help, support with home oxygen / respiratory patients, rheumatic fever secondary prevention prophylaxis and liaison/referrals with other health professionals

Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Current Annual Practicing certificate

Minimum of 2 years clinical experience

Full New Zealand driver's licence
