We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Department team at Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti. This role contributes to a supportive and progressive highly skilled inter-professional team fostering innovation, progression and commitment to service excellence in our Emergency Department.
We are a diverse team of FACEM or vocationally registered emergency specialists, registrars and a nursing team who treat a volume of about 28,000 patients per year, with a 25% admission rate. We have a substantial portion of high acuity medical patients, trauma, and paediatrics, for the Tairāwhiti region. It is integral to the effective development and ongoing success of this service that this person is a leader in nursing, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team; to be innovative, to improve health care, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
The remuneration range for this role is $127,830 - $153,060 and is covered by the collective agreement: NZNO HNZ Collective agreement (2023 - 2024)

- Nurse Practitioner as approved and endorsed by the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- The successful applicant will be practising at a senior level; be a calm and resilient individual with a ‘can do’ attitude and a passion for seeking improvement.
- An excellent communicator and strong patient advocate.
- Provide treatment and interventions, including interpreting diagnostic laboratory tests and administering therapies
- Have a strong emphasis on team culture
- Provide expert clinical knowledge, skills and professional leadership within nursing.
- Work in partnership both clinically and professionally with senior clinical staff in area of practice, to promote health, prevent disease, diagnose, assess and manage people’s health needs
- Provide advanced clinical care demonstrating academic and technical ability.

Gisborne Hospital, a 110 bed acute care hospital which serves a wide geographical area, Tairāwhiti, extending up the East Cape of New Zealand, creating enormous scope and variety in the work available to an enthusiastic ENP. Providing healthcare to a population of 54,000, Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti is well supported locally by comprehensive surgical services and has a full range of diagnostic facilities on site including a new MRI scanner and CT scanner. We have strong ties with our tertiary referral centre in Waikato.
