Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Come and join our dynamic multidisciplinary Hutt Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) who provide services to our Hutt Valley and Wellington communities.
We are seeking Intensive Care Physicians for new permanent positions. These are new full or part time positions, as the unit has expanded, with on-call availability (approx. 1:9) which is included in the job size.
There are opportunities to diversify the role to include anaesthesia or research, and to work closely with the team at Wellington Hospital ICU. We invite applications for this unique opportunity to design a role that will fulfil your requirements.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
Hutt hospital is a fast-growing secondary intensive care unit, and the tertiary referral centre for plastics and burns for the lower North Island and upper South Island of New Zealand. It serves a local community of 160,000, and approximately 1.1M for burns and plastics.
Hutt ICU currently has 8 bed-spaces, of which 7 are fully staffed
and working towards the 8th bed opening quarter 3. We care for
paediatric, surgical, general medical, obstetric and are the tertiary referral
centre for plastics (major reconstructive head and neck surgery / burns)
patients. We will commence acute dialysis in the 2nd half of 2024,
at which stage we will play an important role in caring for regionally-referred
patients.
Moū - About you
- Vocationally registered in intensive care medicine or anaesthesia with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FCICM/FRANZCA or equivalent qualification and be able to register for with the MCNZ
- To participate fully in the acute on-call roster providing 24/7 cover for the unit
- Work effectively in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
